Airtanker/waterbomber pilot training

Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:40 pm

One has an ATP... say B737, and gets a job at Aero Union or Evergreen with pilot duties including firefighting (airtanker, aka waterbomber). Any special training? Are waterbomber scenarios loaded on SIMCOM, CAE, etc., simulators?

I really doubt it. Those simulators have always been more about procedures and instrument flying than visual flying. You don't even have a proper stereoscopic vision in one of those, so you won't be able to judge the target properly.
