In the last week Rolls Royce started delivering the Trent 1000 TEN 787 engine to customers.
I wonder how 787 airlines will use the advances of this engine to improve their 787 operations.

I`m assuming that this engine is offering better sfc over the previous one. The only figure I`ve heard
is 1.8%, if that figure is representative then the airlines will be very happy with that kind of improvement.
While the GEnx & Trent 1000 are very evenly matched engines on the B787, they`ve both had a few
niggles. GEnx had icing issues & a few in-flight shutdowns, & while Trent 1000 seemed to be doing a
little better ( less shutdowns I believe ), suddenly & fairly recently they`ve had turbine blade corrosion issues
which have caused headaches for the airlines, & been very costly for RR. I hope this new engine is
going to improve the situation for its established customers, but time will tell if it will sway those airlines
that already use GEnx, or those that are yet to choose a power plant for their Dreamliner`s in the -TEN`s
direction.
