ND Symbology

Wed Nov 22, 2017 10:48 am

Hi guys,

Do anyone knows why the symbol of "dashed runway centerlines extend" is 14.2nm ?
This symbol in the B738 ND symbology. I think they did it by this distance for a purpose.

Thanks

I use to know that one but I forgot. Probably has something to do with the TERPS?

I heard it could be for engine failure after takeoff. In other words if you had EO the extended RWY centerline guides you to be RWY heading until you fly beyond it you have 2 mins to be in the 25nm MSA of the TMA.

Any way thanks a lot
