There is only one 744 route out of Brisbane with Qantas, to LAX and JFK. However, I am incredibly confused as to how it works. I assume that the aircraft flies from Sidney to LAX, then on to JFK, then back to LAX, then to BNE. And after a few cycles airframes are switched at LAX with that 744 heading home to Sidney. How do crews manage this? I assume there are no BNE based 744 crew. So does Qantas fly the crew from Sidney to BNE?
Generally yes SYD-LAX has a 744 on Tuesday’s only which would go SYD-LAX-BNE-LAX-JFK, should mean a frame will be on the route for 2 weeks before rotating back to SYD. Occasionally they might still have to position an aircraft SYD-BNE if there is an issue.
