You will definitely 'feel' (the deep vibrations, that is!) and hear the distinct growl of the GE90 on start-up, and when spooling up. The RR Trent conversely has an amazing high-pitched whine when spooling up...love that too! Enjoy your flights mate! :-)

I love picking up the good vibrations. It gives me the excitations.

I had Bose noise cancelling headphones and was seated up the front of the B777, so the noise didn't bother me. But if I was near the engines, that GE90 noise would drive me mad:

That's a high quality recording. And yes, that droning start up is particularly bad. If your international flights are only 6 hours you wouldn't care, but if you have 13 hours in one of those things, then it is bad. The A380 is for sure much quieter, but I didn't like the seats on the Emirates A380.

I've got multiple trips "at the back of the bus" (Economy) in all 3 of these airframes. My opinion, in order from quietest to loudest: 787, 777, A330.

My experience with the A330 is pretty much the opposite of what's posted here - my flight in a Lufthansa A330 was uncomfortably loud. I will not voluntarily fly Lufthansa out of my current location, because they use an A330 on the route, and I will not pay for that experience again.

Yeah my experience with the a330 confirms this. Very nice and quiet up front and very loud in back. Is there an issue with jet wash hitting the fuselage on the 330? Perhaps unique to the Trent 700?
