Has KJFK's legenday ATC Steve retired?

Hi all!
Saw a youtube video today where "kennedy steve" says that he's retiring. Can anyone confirm this for me.

I just saw this as well, a sad day for us geeks, but I hope he enjoys a well earned retirement.

Definitely one of my favorite controllers at JFK, charming but serious when he has to be, unlike some of the others there who were just born nasty.

Really sad to read this, but this is a well desserved retirement! All the best for him now and hope some fresh new controllers will take over with the same talent and professionalism

I assumed he hit the 56 year mark. Has there been any discussion within the FAA of extending the mandatory retirement by say 5 years? People are living longer and staying in better health so it seems like 55 is a bit young to require a controller to retire.

People ARE extending their prime years by 5-10 years now. Not all, but many are. You can see it in athletics.
