The Saab 340 and 2000 have low maintenance costs but I found out that both types have many differences (different engines and so on).
So are the maintenance costs of a mixed fleet higher than with a fleet of only one type?

Just a guess, yes. From a mechanic stand point you need to be trained on two engines and any other systems differences. Parts wise the airline could possibly need to stock double the amount of consumables, filters and such. Some may be interchangeable though. Same for the rotable expensive parts but in a small operation most would be acquired as needed. Brakes and tires may also be different, requiring double the stock.
