Present:
Delta Skymiles
Southwest Rapid Rewards

I have an account for each alliance, but I just have them in case I have to fly a different carrier than WN or DL. DL has been my primary for almost 20 years, but WN is picking up steam. It’s just easier to redeem rewards and all my travel is domestic. Even went for the credit card last week. Free companion pass and 50,000 points for signing up goes a long way.
Look at sweatpants guy. This is a 90 million dollar aircraft, not a Tallahassee strip club

I can be very short about this, I've never used any frequent flyer programs. Not in the past and not in the present.

Most airlines I fly don't have a frequent flyer program. The few that do, I don't fly them enough to benefit from it.

Present, as in active accounts? Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, and United. The only ones with any activity over the past couple of years are Alaska and United.

Past? None, other than defunct airlines like Continental, Northwest, and US Air, which got combined as part of acquisitions.

It's important, I believe, to stick to a loyalty program to gain all the benefits of a higher tier which can be substantial. So I've primarily stuck with Air Canada (Aeroplan) over many years. This has been able to offer some good privileges in their top tier Super Elite (100k) with upgrades, lounge access, concierge service etc. Last year I had a ton of work travel to NZ and AC don't serve there and via Oz was too inconvenient. So I joined ANZ for the year and quickly got their top tier and they are without doubt one of the best airlines you could wish to fly. Their service on the ground, air, baggage services etc were excellent. Also after the first couple of flights, I was upgraded every flight. Just excellent.
I do hold Delta and BA...both because of "awkward" routes that Star Alliance doesn't serve and I collected several thousand points. The only two airlines I've had terrible trouble getting points assigned were both non-aligned airlines (a theme?) : ElAl and Emirates. I eventually gave up and won't rush back to use either.

That was what I though when I first started flying, but after my first couple of flights I figured why not, it's not like it costs me anything. Although all the airlines I usually fly do have FF programs. I don't fly enough to get any sort of status (except for one year when I just barely got the lowest tier status on United thanks to a trip to India on my employer's dime), but I generally have at least enough activity to keep the accounts active and not have the miles expire. Even if it takes years to save up enough miles, I've at least gotten a couple of free domestic flights out of it.

To answer the OP's question, presently I have one account per alliance, plus JetBlue:
AAdvantage
United Miles Plus
Delta Skymiles
JetBlue True Blue

Past, just defunct airlines that were merged into the ones above:
Northwest Worldperks
Continental Onepass

I am a Million Miler with AAdvantage (used to be referred to as lifetime Gold), and I worked hard to get there! When I first joined AAdvantage in 2001, I was soon receiving free upgrades, or easy upgrades with "stickers". In those days, I was flying two round-the-worlds a year mostly on OneWorld, so the miles accumulated quickly. (made Platinum for a few years). I was able to redeem miles for two great vacations, one in domestic F (Hawaii), and one in international business (Tokyo). Sadly, thanks to "leaders" in the industry like Delta, FF programs have been drastically diluted in value. Upgrades are very difficult to come by, particularly on any hub-to-hub route, and the formula for accruing miles has been changed based on dollars spent on your ticket vs. miles flown. I also have a Delta Skymiles account, but even though I once achieved status, I never received anything from them for it, not one upgrade, ever. Therefore, my loyalty to American went up in comparison. And reading for years comments on this board referring to Delta's program as "Skypesos", it seemed like my loyalty was well placed. Nowadays I wonder. I still have a lot of miles in AAdvantage, which I ought to try using again.

As for the past, I had Continental OnePass briefly, and TWA Aviator miles. TWA rolled into AAdvantage when they were bought by American so I was happy about that.

Active:
- Delta Skymiles (Silver Medallion)

Open, but not active:
- Alaska Airlines
- United Airlines

I also have the Delta Reserve card through American Express, which enhances the Skymiles account I have. I fly Delta exclusively these days, both due to service, quality of the Skymiles program, and convenient schedule from my little airport (PSC). I have a good opinion of United these days, and would consider flying them if nothing were available on United. United also has a good schedule from PSC as well...DEN, SFO, and LAX starting in the next few weeks.

US based FF's tend to forget that upgrades are awarded on a discretional basis so don't expect any of the US3 to give away domestic F revenue just to have you sitting in the front at a discounted Y price. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see "complimentary" upgrades becoming harder and harder to get until going away completely in a few years. Elsewhere in the aviation world being a high-tier FF don't entilte you to automatic upgrades either short or long haul.

Also, I do think is fair enough to award miles/points based on the fare, many times a full flexible fare can be 3x/4x a restricted fare.

Active but not use often:
DL Skypesos :duck: (Only got it b/c I was living in Atlanta for about 2 years, and options out of ATL include DL and DL...ok, there was AirTran)
WN RapidRewards (Mainly "inactive" as I fly mostly on UA on domestic flights)

Past:
CO OnePass (Converted to UA MileagePlus)
CX Asia Miles (Mostly just use AAdvantage nowaday for flights on OW; too painful to keep it active)
FL A+ Rewards

Active:
EgyptAir Plus (Silver)
Emirates Skywards (Silver)

Rarely used:
Flying Blue (I will do maybe a few flights a year on a Skyteam airline)
BA Exec Club (I would always get a nominal discount with Avios so it's not a complete waste)

I don't fly other airlines often enough to ever achieve any status so there is no point for me. If an airline I don't have status with has a better price/product I will use go with them.

I usually use AirAsia BIG, even though I don't fly with them at all (last flight was in 2015).

It's usually for non-flight purchases, and the miles I got I convert it into Samsung Rewards points (Samsung Rewards are for users of Samsung Pay).

Other FFP I've used
a) KLM - Flying Blue
b) Malaysia Airlines - Enrich
I FLY KLM+ALASKA+QATAR+MALAYSIA+AIRASIA+MALINDO

Past FF Programs:
My first was the PSA program...I cashed in miles for Cabo San Lucas.
My PSA miles became the US Air plan...I took a roundtrips from LAX to New Orleans and from Burbank to La Guardia. In those days an award included a free hotel night.
I briefly participated in the Northwest FF program for a trip to Africa on NW-KLM. I cashed in my miles for a roundtrip SFO-Philadelphia trip.
I was also a member of the UA plan and used miles for a trip from SFO to Zihuatanejo, MX.
I also was a member of the Continental Airlines plan and used miles for a one way to San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
When I was flying monthly between Oakland and Portland for meetings I joined the Alaska plan and booked a trip to Cancun on AA with their miles. I also went to Loreto from LAX on AS miles.
I briefly was a TWA Aviator and transferred miles to AA.

Present:
WN since 2005.
AA-I have taken trips to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on AA miles. Also, a First Class roundtrip from SAN to FLL.
