Your statement is the one that doesn't make any sense.

If DL had a focus city at AUS and had a flight from CRP and other smaller market Texas cities to AUS, they could feed flights to ATL, JFK, SLC, LAX, and any other cities DL decides to serve from AUS. THIS way they could compete in Texas without going head to head at DFW, IAH, DAL, or HOU.

There's a whole dumpster fire of a thread from last year about how Austin was destined for focus City or hub City status with Delta.

I'm fully aware of that. I'm just pointing out that some of the Texas cities mentioned in previous posts that currently don't have service to ATL, might not be good candidates for nonstop service to ATL, or may have had service to ATL in the past.

EIN is not served from ATL. I guess no chance of that since all three hubs surrounding EIN (AMS, BRU and DUS) are served.

When I fly from Atlanta to Atlanta I still have to change planes in Atlanta.

I hate that. One time when I was flying Atlanta to Atlanta we got diverted to Atlanta. They wouldn’t let anyone off...

Forgive my ignorance: But what does flying from "Atlanta to Atlanta" mean? Is there a different Atlanta to which you're referring... Flying "Atlanta to Atlanta" and being "diverted to Atlanta..." I'm confused.

YYC, ANC, PEK, YVR come to mind.

ANC is served seasonally, I would like to see:

ATL-GLA/EDI/KEF/CPH

ATL-EDI was served by DL about a decade ago.

I guess that route would only come back if there a lot of transferring passengers from ATL and the part of the USA going via JFK and enough capacity to handle all the traffic up there. DL are starting seasonal flights to BOS this year. If its a success, they might give EDI another go from ATL in the next couple of years.

I think Toledo, OH and Corpus Christi, TX stand out the most to me. Good candidates for a 1-2x daily large RJ to start.

DL flew ATL - TOL for decades on mainline aircraft, then downgraded to CRJ 200 service then left for good.

TOL is in rough spot, so close to DTW and FWA pulling passengers as well.
