The average AA customer probably couldn't get rid of Dougie soon enough. For whatever reason the bean counters seem to be in love with him, despite LCC's poorly performing stock.
joeblow10 wrote:While the OP is slightly sensational - the stock has tanked, and AA just forecasted RASM down again last week. Almost a year ago, we heard they were going to try and raise fares to combat rising fuel costs. Fuel ended up going back down, but it appears AA is still more than willing to get involved in crazy fare wars for one of the big 3. I see AA matching the ULCCs in a lot of markets now - it gets customers onboard no doubt, but it hits revenues and RASM pretty hard.
I don't think AA has "taken a nosedive" in a practical sense - but it certainly has been interesting to watch them move in the opposite direction of DL/UA, who appear to largely be on the up (UA) or staying hot (DL)

Yup. This thread is going to go downhill quickly.

Just watching and wait boys...

A compromise of 24J version might give AA some relief in premium market pricing.

How is 30" pitch on a DL A319 much better than 30" pitch on an AA A319?
9w748capt wrote:rj1385 wrote:Is there a standard too that AA is supposed to fit in for OneWorld?
Standard lol - you mean BA and their 8 across business class? And their $1000 fees to redeem miles? LCC is light years ahead in comparison.

I think the system is too complicated, and a hub needs to be drawn down. ORD or PHL would be good candidates.

Agreed...this shrinking of pitch is bordering on insane. There is a day soon coming where there will be a revolt of the top 20-30% of customers...and I know a few that are ready to dump AA for DL..Just give them one more reason and they are gone.
The list of items that just piss people off continues to grow...the seats, the service, lines on board for the lavs since they have 1 fewer than years past. Running out of food selections to buy on board..or worse..catering "forgetting" to stock the aircraft. The quality of the coffee, the lack of consistent beverage services, the attitudes of many front line employees,
There are about a dozen- 18 different things that could be done to enhance that customer experience..and yes, when the next downturn comes, AA could be sucking DL's jet exhaust.

Anyone can earn money in this environment, AA should be making way more than they are which is why the stock has taken a “nosedive”, which is the exact word in the CNBC article in post 15.

Disagree. They need to keep the 757s, 767s, and S80s in service for as long as possible. Those are the only comfortable AA mainline jets left. You'd seriously ride on a MAX for 7 hours with a lav too small for the average human? Or a densified A321? Please.

I would much rather be in a densified max rather than a maddog. At least I'd still be able to hear afterword

Dramatic much? Since when has the S80 ever made anyone deaf? I'd much rather have a comfortable seat and a bathroom that's actually human sized. But to each their own I guess. The Dougie homers will support his nonsense no matter what.

I was going to say. That was way overstated. MD-80s aren't that bad with noise and if you sit ahead of the wing it's actually very quiet. That's not hard to do either since the wings are sort of behind center on those planes.

there is more to comfort than pitch size. being able to actually have entertainment and internet is a massive advantage to newer planes. an i personally find the seats on newer planes more comfortable as well. power outlets are another big thing, which are sorely lacking in pretty much all old planes.

Hahaha you value entertainment and internet? Then do you mind explaining to me the logic behind Dougie nixing PTVs as an amenity on the new MAX 8s? That's really conducive to being entertained isnt' it? Do you mind explaining the logic behind Project Oasis and the removal of current PTVs? Again, you value entertainment, but only without your own PTV?
The S80s all have internet AFAIK.
Yes power outlets are a thing. Of course, Dougie ripped those out of the LCC fleet too, until he realized everyone else was installing them. I wonder if he's flown DL lately? Amazing how the most profitable airline of the US3 continues to install PTVs in their aircraft, even in the A220.

having flown in a nb without the ptv, the fact that I can access all the entertainment on my oled 1440p phone w/ a pixel density of 600ppi and a 6 inch diagonal as opposed to a 480p lcd thats smaller, further away from me than my phone, and far worse quality makes me not care at all about there not being ptvs. Doug is right when he says anything they install is gonna be obsolete in a few years. i've flown delta nbs w/ ptvs, and those screens are far worse than what i carry in my pocket.
