So it appears my Dutch passport will give me access to 186 countries. Sounds like plenty to me.

Actually I'm a bit surprised about the differences between several EU countries. The differences may not be huge, but it seems some countries allow people from one European country and disallow them from another one. You'd think visa access for European citizens would be a task for the EU and not for individual countries.

It is. Just not all counterparts are equally receptive to EU's demands for visa equality for all citizens. Sometimes, situations like these arise: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-39143806

My Danish passport grants me access to 187 countries, yet I constantly find my self applying for visas left and right.

I have 3, all within the top 6, according to that web link. I wonder does that allow me access to 555 countries? Haha.

On a different matter, does anyone think Russia will ever go down the e-visa route, like some of it's former Soviet neighbours have done in recent times?

I have a German passport, and a Costa Rican passport. The Costa Rican one is one of the rather better passports in Central America in terms of visa-free travel, probably just second behind the Panamanian passport.
