Aircraft with odd/unique flight decks

Wed Nov 07, 2018 2:04 am

Just for the sake of discussion. Anything out there with a flight deck that's particularly interesting to you? As well designed as they are, a lot of modern glass cockpit designs are fairly similar - I think it's fun to look back at some of the more obscure stuff, like this Tu-214. It's very clean and uncluttered compared to the 757. Interesting how so many Russian made aircraft chose to use that turquoise color scheme.

Another one that really strikes me is the Lockheed Constellation. Particularly that jumpseat. How 50's.

How about you guys? Anything that really stands out to you?

The Shanghai Y-10 is a weird one to me. Look at those gigantic, pointy cockpit windows!!

Also, whatever is housing the rudder pedal assembly on the Sukhoi SuperJet 100 is just absolutely ridiculous looking and totally doesn't fit with the rest of the cockpit. It looks like they just ripped it out of a 1950's war plane, bolted it in to the SSJ100, and called it a day.
