Any AA Aircraft In Old Livery?

Sat Nov 03, 2018 6:24 pm

Topic name speaks for itself... Being a fan of the old AA logo, just wondering if any are remaining in the world.

When you refer to "Old Livery" do you mean Astrojet livery?

Or the current livery found on the Super 80's currently?

If you mean the just metal/chrome look all aircraft are repainted except the MD80s.

If you also want to count the American Eagle livery, there are still quite a few E140s flying around in old paint that were rushed out of storage.

I should re-clarify what I mean. Any AA aircraft other then the Mad Dogs/Super 80s with this livery:

N921NN is the last aircraft (shown above if I’m not mistaken) that’s not an MD80 with the old livery. I think it was also the last 738 aircraft to receive the old paint, in which after a few years went to get polished up and modified (notice the AA.com and stripes no longer on the winglets).

I’m glad they kept the same titles; the white outline on “American” gave it a glowing, neon-look.

The desert also has a lot of AAircraft in the polished metal livery. Last I’ve seen it was a couple of MD80s up close, I think a few days before a bunch of them were retired. Took photos. Maybe they’ll come back, but I think they’re gone for good in AUS save for a technical swap every now and then.

I believe the Super 80's are mostly gone from the IAH-DFW route as well.
