Well, somewhere there must be a DC-3.

Does ZK-AWP count? Not sure it does regular scheduled pax services anymore, but certainly does carry fare-paying pax on charters and scenic tour packages. 1945-build C-47B-30-DK, converted to DC-3C and then Skyliner by NAC.

At any rate, the Air Chathams Convair 580s are much older than any of these jets (OP says airliners, not just jets!) and do fly the regular scheduled pax runs to the Chathams and Whanganui. ZK-CIB is a 1953-build, ZK-CIE 1957 and ZK-CIF 1956.

Well, I believe that´s because Airbus only made it´s big (quantitative) appearance in the late 80´s, early 90´s.
Of course there where Airbus in the 70´s, but not that many.

Maybe Boeing will always have the majority of "the oldest jets market" as you put it :) but I bet the difference is gonna be smaller, let´s say, in 10 years from now.

I would have thought there would be a 727 on the list.

XA-UHZ was the 737, which crashed on May 18th in Cuba. Not quite active now I would say...

From what I could find, it's stored. Not sure where or for how long. However when that list was made it was still in active service, so that makes this list wrong. Built in 1966 it was the oldest flying airliner at that time.

Antonov AN-24RV UR-47297 (first flight 28.01.1971 - delivered to Aeroflot 15.04.1971) still operates domestic scheduled passenger flights in Ukraine with Motor Sich Airlines along with its sisterships UR-MSI (1972) and UR-BXC (1975).

In sep 2017 I was able to fly on this very aircraft and it was still in very good shape/condition aside from a few inevitable signs of age ...
The interior was really "back to the 60´s/70´s".

This is definitely the oldest aircraft still in regular passenger service I´ve ever been on ...
jan 1971 - sep 2017 are almost 46yrs and it´s still earning its keep ...
Flying is not inherently dangerous but it is very unforgiving in case of carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

Is Buffalo Airways' C-GWZS still active? I know they suspended their scheduled operations a few years back, but I think it may still be in active service for their charter operation. This frame hails from 1942 and saw active service in WWII.

I can also think of countless other small airlines flying types which are way over 40 years old in pax or charter service.

I think those frames are used for cargo operations only, a selection appear to be active still.

I was up at Buffalo HQ in Yellowknife earlier in the year, they do not offer passenger service at all, even as charter ops - I asked the question, because I was keen to fly somewhere on a cargo run but their certification does not allow for passengers. I did fly 732C C-GOPW, 05.08.80, 37.5 years old

Iran Aseman has 3 727s that were built in 1980. That would put them right on the end of this list but maybe not quite as old as what's on the list right now.

I'm not sure the InterAir 737 is still flying, since that airline haven't been operating for a few years now and I haven't seen the aircraft being used by any other carriers on lease/charter.

What a terrible piece of journalism, must have been researched from a total amateur without any aviation knowledge.

Chances to end up on one of the mentioned airframes are very slim, either due to the aircraft being Cargo, owned by charter companies, having crashed or simply not flying any pax.

Despite the fact that there are hundreds of older aircraft in commercial service. I alone have been on over a dozen in the last few months.

Loran

These two 747s belong to the Iranian Air Force. They're NOT civilian airliners!

Hello,

because of this thread I was curious about the theme and did some "research", this time only for the 737 classic, latter I will do it for other models.
I compared information from 3 websites and did some digging around the web and got some results.

Before I show you what I´ve got let me just tell you the following:

1 - I did this just for fun!
2 - In no way I can assure that all this information is correct because it´s not easy to confirm all the data from different sources.
3 - If any of you have some information that can be helpful to correct what I wrote, please share.
4 - I don´t intend to have all the reason, I just gathered the data, confirmed it the best I could and here I present the results, but, as I told you, I did it for fun.
5 - Some are civilian comercial or cargo, some are militar.

The data was gathered between 25/10/2018 and 7/11/2018, and these are the oldest active airframes of the B737 classic.

MSN LN Aircraft Type Reg Airline First flight
20483 273 Boeing 737-2A8 K3187 Indian Air Force   23/12/1970

Sorry for the presentation but I don´t know how to do it better. Anyway, I believe it´s understandable, we have from left to right: MSN, Line number, model, registration, operator and first flight date.

Thank you DABYT!!

Some curiosities regarding the B737 classic:

- Previously I posted a table with older 732 still flying, see above if you are curious, please.

- Youngest 732 flying LN 241797 MSN 1581 Boeing 737-209 S2-AGN Sky Capital Cargo (Bangladesh) FF - 01/07/88

- Two oldest 733 flying LN23152 MSN1073 Boeing 737-3Z8 85101 Korean Air Force FF - 07/01/85
LN23258 MSN1126 Boeing 737-301F PK-BBS Cardig Air Cargo FF - 07/06/85

- Oldest 734 flying LN23886 MSN1487 Boeing 737-401 YV2946 Avior Airlines FF - 23/02/88

- Oldest 735 flying LN24778 MSN1816 Boeing 737-5L9 YR-BAG Avior Airlines FF - 21/02/90

I knw some are not passenger but I consider it as civilian.
The criteria was the same I used in my previous posts (some post above).

The Twin Otters flying at the Maldives are also very old and still carrying passengers every day.

Check out for example 8Q-MBC, Rolled Out: 12-Sep-1969 First Flight: 27-Sep-1969:
