Delta Questions

Sun Oct 21, 2018 2:57 pm

couple questions.

I have noticed on Delta lately that the connections times they will let you book seem to be smaller and smaller. Some of you that fly DL more than me might know better but I have a flight coming up in a couple weeks with a 40 minute connection and I am looking to book another flight in December and I am seeing 30 minute connections. Maybe they pad their flight times more than others or something but have they always had some THAT short? Just seems like they could have a lot of mis-connects.

Next question. I have the option to connect in SLC or MSP in December. Neither one excites me due to weather reasons but is one better than the other for that reason? I would guess SLC isn't quite at risk for a bad snowstorm. I never really thought about how DL has a lot of cold weather hubs in winter. No PHX/Texas/etc. Mainly just ATL is warmer (LAX doesn't fly to my home airport).

1. Yes they have always had connections that short. Now, where are you flying to/from? Because some destinations out of MSP and SLC have anywhere from 1 to 10 flights per day on Delta. If you miss that 30 minute connection, you will probably be able to get a flight later in the day.

2. Either MSP or SLC would be good. Just go with whichever one has the better flight times. MSP does get snow however as a large Delta hub, they have a team that knows how to deal with snow. Hope this helps!

SFO-XXX-STL, it is a 10 am flight out of SFO (or possibly OAK) so there are later flights to STL if needed. MSP obliviously has more options but if they think my first flight won't make the second I can always change to MSP if I choose the SLC one.

Thanks for the info. The SFO-SLC-STL one has both legs on E175s which I kind of like (plus I won't feel the need to buy main cabin because of the no middle seat). Seats are a tad wider and more leg room (plus no middle seat person) than a 737-900/757. MSP would be on an MD90 from MSP-STL, not sure how many more times I will have a chance for that plane though. With STL being so WN heavy I don't get the chance to pick my plane type very often so it adds an extra fun element to the trip.

Thanks again.

No problem! It sounds like both would be okay. Go with whichever one has the plane you are looking to fly!
