I thought I had read in this forum that Denver had reached the 200 destination status.

A number of DEN destinations are summer or winter seasonal ... this is just for winter season which evidently doesn't quite reach 200.

And SAN pushed FRA into silver medal status instead of Bronze over CDG. 
Interesting that JFK is the only airport in the U.S. on the list of "most airlines". That goes to show what airline consolidation has done in the U.S. for "variety".
Question: it does say "non-stop", but that would include non-daily frequencies, yes? Even just once a week?

Rather useless analysis by Anna.
Just because an airport has X flights and Y destinations does not mean the connection is possible nor logical.
The more realistic analysis is by folks like OAG that look at potential connections within a specific time window, and distance circituity.

It doesn't say nor imply that. Connectivity simply means how well an airport is connected to other airports which is something different than 'suited for connections'.

No, it doesn't. Go back a decade pre-consolidation.
What it shows is that it's easier to have more destinations and more carriers in areas with higher population density, presuming some affluence. That's why airports in Western Europe and East Asia 'do well' in these metrics.

Your logic is correct, and perhaps my explanation needs more detail.
My intent was to point out ALL the airlines of the U.S. that have disappeared since 1978 (deregulation) until now, not just the most recent 6-to-3 consolidation merger. LAX, for example, used to be the home of large numbers of smaller carriers - now it's just the "Big 3", Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska, Hawaiian, Spirit, as far as domestic goes. Our "variety" in the U.S. has shrunk considerably in the last 40 years.
