Boiled Peanuts in carry on baggage?

Sun Oct 14, 2018 12:24 am

Down in the south we have what you call, boiled peanuts . My family boiled some and froze them to keep them fresh in zip loc bags. If I only have a carry on will TSA allow me to bring these , or will it be an issue?

As long as it is a solid food you should have no problem. Any liquid foods are still confined to the 3oz requirement: Soup, broth, etc..

Peanut allergy freak-out in the cabin is the issue I'd be thinking about.

peanuts are great, enjoy. Allergy sufferers have EpiPens. You are perfectly entitled to bring whatever solid food you want onboard provided the smell is not offensive and pervades the entire cabin like durian or kimchi.

That would be the problem of the allergy sufferer, not the OP.

As for the question:

Nuts

Carry On Bags:
Yes
Checked Bags:
Yes
TSA officers may instruct travelers to separate items from carry-on bags such as foods, powders, and any materials that can clutter bags and obstruct clear images on the X-ray machine. Travelers are encouraged to organize their carry-on bags and keep them uncluttered to ease the screening process and keep the lines moving.
