Airlines that are all--Boeing or all-Airbus

Sat Oct 13, 2018 3:48 pm

For smaller airlines it makes sense to just have ony supplier, typically Airbus or Boeing. For bigger airlines, some argue that is still makes sense (simplicty for LCCs) or that is better to have two or more suppliers, to decrease dependency and have the best airplane for each route.
All-Boeing are; Xiamen, Westjet, Ukraine (plus some Embraers), all TUI airlines, transavia, sun country, southwest, Norwegian, GOL and Ryanair of course, royal air maroc, Kenya and LOT (all plus some Embraers), Jin, JAL, Icelandair, El Al, Aeromexico
All-Airbus are: WOW, Wizz, Vueling, TAP, Sri Lankan, Spirit, Sichuan, Peach, Onur, MEA, jetblue (with some Embraers), IBERIA, HK Express and HK Airlines, germanwings and eurowings, Frontier, Finnair (with some Embraers), easyjet, Edelweiss, Cebu, Brussels and Aegean

Does that make JAL the biggest one-supplier airline for B and IBERIA for A? I guess JAL ordered A 350 now, that must be a dramatic change!

Southwest has over 600 737s and Ryanair over 400. JAL has a fleet of less than 200, so I'd say that they're not!

I agree JAL is actually a relatively small airline, plus they won't be an all-Boeing airline for long. They got the A350 and MRJ90 on order. The largest all-Boeing airline is Southwest Airlines, followed by Ryanair.

According to Wikipedia (not a reliable source, I know) EasyJet has 315 Airbus aircraft in the fleet and Iberia only has 85. I guess that makes EasyJet the largest all-Airbus airline.

Right, but for legacy/intercontinental airlines, JAL and IBERIA seem to be the biggest singel-supplier airlines.

I think Boeings owned by airlines in Spanish-speaking countries should be called Boeandos.

Its now history but before Scoot's recent merger with Tigerair, it was not only all-Boeing, its fleet was all Dreamliner.
Also,Silkair started with all-MD (only 2 leased MD-87s for a very brief period) before going all-Boeing (interspersed with 2 A-310 for awhile) through most of the 90s, then all-Airbus (a couple of Fokker70s were in the fleet in the B to A transition years), and now in the process of being all Boeing again. However the latter is now moot as the regional airline will cease to exist once it become fully absorbed by parent SIA sometime after 2020; likely by 2021 or a little bit later.

Norwegian also has some 70 Airbus 320 neo that thy lease out through their leasing firm and they are said to include 30 airbus Airbus A321LR to their own fleet soon.

JetBlue will eventually be all Airbus (with no Embraers). Though the A220 kind of has an asterisk next to it, like being "all Boeing" but one of your major types is the 717.
