Best Business Europe - Johannesburg

Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:41 am

I’m planning a trip to Johannesburg in January and looking for advice. If I’m willing to reposition, there’s very little difference in price on the below airlines so which should I choose for experience, food, seat, lounge etc;

BA A380 via LHR
TK A330 via IST (they’ll be in new airport by Jan)
EK A380 / 777 via DXB
EY A330 via AUH
AF A380 via CDG
SA A330 via MUC
ET 787 / A350 via ADD
QR 787 via DOH

I realise there are other airlines such as KL, VS, IB etc but they’re significantly more expensive. As a reference I’ve flown BA, VS & LX long haul business before

I'd try something completely new and pick ET via ADD.
The selection of planes is nice and ADD is not a place where one would usually transfer.

For sure QR - and choose a single seat! Also great lounge and easy transfer at DOH!

Stay away from ET - dirty planes, poor customer service and very basic lounges...

Best seat and service almost objectively QR as others mentioned. However, ET is quite cool, get A350/B787 and perhaps go to somewhere different. EK would also be quite good, others definitely not as recommended.
