The fare wasn't 195GBP, they were sold at £1 plus taxes (a clear error).
BA (or any other airline) doesn't legally have to honour this obvious error.

How many customers know, and care, how much of the total fare is the fare proper, and how much is taxes and fees? All they care about is the total you will be charged. And in this case £195 is not an unreasonably low amount, as has been shown in previous posts. Heck, even BA itself is offering FRA-NYC (a way longer flight than LON-TLV) cheaper than this £1 fare. Is it obviously wrong as well??...

The Air Passenger Duty on a flight to Israel is £78 for economy (<40" seat pitch is the government definition) so if the flight was £195, BA were getting £117, how they chose to list their; staffing, fuel, airport and aircraft cost out of that is a matter for them, but it is not a tax. Less than a minute on Skyscanner allowed me to find Wizzair at £191 return with various other options, the price is entirely believable. Everyone on here knows that it's cheap for fully flex economy and yes it was a mix up, but if someone sues them, a vaguely competent lawyer waving a printout of available flights from London to Tel Aviv for less than £195 will have a field day. Someone at BA has been shall we say penny wise, but pound foolish, offering either a refund or to convert it to a non-flexible ticket would have been sensible as then passengers couldn't complain that they were out of pocket on non-refundable hotels etc.

+taxes & airport charges then ya pedants (BA lists all of them when booking). I, like many other just say 'plus taxes' for brevity.

However you want to dress it up, the tickets were sold in error.

Personally, I'd take the compensation, rebook elsewhere and still get change.
