Happened quite a number of times with me.
I remember a long time ago (maybe 2004 or 2005), was flying from London to Dubai via Bahrain, on Gulf Air. It was an A332. We arrived in BAH, deplaned, went through security, and back up to departures. I remember that not only the same plane, same gate (but different crew), but same passengers as a good chunk of the plane were flying London-Dubai.
Around 2010 or so flew Qatar Airways Cairo to Dubai via Doha. We deplaned at a remote stand (but very close to the terminal), quick security check, then to the gate to be bussed back to the same aircraft-it was probably a 77L.
More recently, flew from Dubai to Doha and was connecting to CAI. This was at the new Hamad International Airport, so we used jetways. I simply went through the tube into the terminal, and found that I was at the gate for my next flight to Cairo. At DOH (both old & new airports) passengers arriving from the UAE and are transiting are simply released into the departures level, as opposed to having to go through the main security checkpoint to be rescreened. So it was literally the easiest transit ever.
