Special qualification needed for staffs performing checkin for US-bound flight?

Thu May 31, 2018 8:46 am

From what I am reading, it seems like the "City Airport Terminal" at KTX Gwangmyeong Station in Seoul which was opened following the opening of ICN T2 is now capable of handling pre-flight check-in to all destinations, except for destinations im the US or US territories.

And then there's a report saying that the situation is going to change next month when America TSA approved operation plan
for process of handling travellers going to the United States and completion of security training on check in staff.

So it seems like it imply that staffs who are to handle check in process for travellers going to the US would require additional trainings that are normally nit necessary in case they aren't handling them? What do those trainings include?

You need your brain surgically removed to not notice the stupidity in the TSAs special requirements. Hard to find volunteers for that. :-)

It's probably referring to the required pax security interview for international inbound flights to the US. It's a bit of a charade for sure; I'm always skeptical of the "training" that the staff receive that do these interviews.

Pretty sure this is it as well. Besides the security questions, staff have to be informed of what to check depending on the type of visa each traveler holds. Tourist? Ask the questions, ask for return ticket. Student? Check I-20 form, etc. Airlines are fined a pretty penny if CBP finds out someone shouldn't have been allowed to board in the first place, so it makes sense they're covering their behinds.

Does the biggest part of the training include standing at the head of the queue to security shouting 'belts off, shoes off!' at the incredulous passengers?

Yes, those performing check-in for US-bound flights will need to hold guns, and prove that they are ready to beat, shoot, tazer and/or remove people from the pax list if these disagree/respond/look suspicious/sport the colours of terrorists/dress well/are too thin/are communist/drive a 4-cylinder car or a diesel VW.
