This is indeed a positioning flight for the LAX-PVG flight.
Also as this is a longer than 24 hour turnaround what A350 will operate the flight the next day or are they going back to a B77L?? If it’s daily A350 surely they will need another positioning flight the next day from somewhere as this daily flight needs more than one frame?

Could be worse. I saw on the monitor in the gate area after I got off that someone had a connection to Sydney and missed it
Yeah, the whole situation with the delay was strange. I knew we would be late just with how late the inbound flight was. I had been tracking since early in the morning before I left ATL,

I saw the missed connection to SYD also, so yeah, I feel for that person. My back up plan was much simpler.
I flew into DTW from ATL too. I was on DL1502, the 737-900. I had nearly 5 hours in DTW to find a hotel at LAX, and book another flight home on Monday. Not that big of a deal, I hope you fared much better.

Don't think Delta was being entirely truthful in the delay reason though, when I had to get my connecting flight rebooked for Monday the agent saw the delay reason was entered as mechanical rather than the "security check" or "cleaning" we were initially told in Detroit.
bluestreak wrote:Delta did send me an email apologizing about the delay, I assume you guys received one as well?
They did attach a survey, I filled it out truthfully. The in flight service was good, communication on the ground was bad. I did miss my flight home (to ATL). I actually saw it push back from the gate in terminal 3 as we parked at our gate in terminal 2. Thankfully I did have a back up plan, which worked out in the end.
No hard feelings towards Delta, but communication could have been better, maybe they will give me a few bonus skymiles?
