American Airlines Main Cabin Extra 777-200ER Question

Sun May 06, 2018 2:39 pm

Looking for some more information on MCE on the 777-200ER. Flying JFK to LHR next week. Curious as to whether the seats will be leather or fabric, is it 6+ inches of extra legroom over main cabin, and is MCE being replaced with Premium Economy or is AA keeping MCE on the 772 and adding Premium as well?

The seats will be leather on the 772.

MCE is sticking around still with PE being added. Might be less MCE (not sure on that), but MCE and PE are definitely still going to be together. AA increased it's MCE service (unlimited alcohol, dedicated bin space), so it sounds very much like they don't plan on MCE going anywhere.

The only AA a/c I know of that have old fabric seats still are the 767s in Y, and MD80s in Y.

Most AA aircraft these days have leather seats in all classes, so most likely you will have a leather seat. Yes it is six inches of Legroom over main cabin, but otherwise the seat is identical. And even though AA is refurbishing the widebody fleet to add Premium Economy, it will not replace MCE and MCE will still be offered.

Although the dedicated bin space is in effect, the complimentary alcohol is not yet in effect for MCE. That said though, the pending complimentary alcohol for MCE is more of a domestic topic as, for certain international flights such as JFK-LHR, the entire main cabin has had complimentary beer and wine for a few years now.

In contrast to the 77W which is losing some MCE for PE, the 77E is actually gaining both MCE and PE at the expense of MC.

Why does UA have so much more Y+ in general than AA?
