Help identifying aircraft

Sun Apr 22, 2018 11:02 am

Hi,

New user posting here and I hope this doesn't fall foul of any rules and that you guys might be able to help me or at least point me to somewhere else that can!

I'm a little bit OCD and have a spreadsheet of all the flights I have been on and am trying to find the registration numbers (if that is the right term to use) of the aircraft (and also the type of plane flown in a couple of instances) I've been on in the following format:
Image

I appreciate that it may not be possible for flights from such a long period ago! Just wondering how long the data goes back to? (I have data from Jan 2017 onwards thanks to flightradar24/Flightaware) Also the distance travelled on these earliest flights are just the standard circle mapper distances so I know they are not very accurate.

I hope this makes sense to someone!

Thanks,

Stevie

As far as Im aware not breaking any rules. I do the same on a spreadsheet and have asked for help in the past to fill out. May I suggest inputting on my.flightradar24.com to have a cool view of all flights.

I am now going to check some of the flights I might be able to help with registrations/aircraft and Ill post in a little bit.

I have just realised this is going to be very difficult without flight numbers as for some there are multiple daily flights and its impossible for me to know which one. For starters the BA to Toronto there are two daily flights 1 B772 and 1 B742 so if you are sure its the B772 then use that below. i've attached the B742 details as well

19-08-2000 EGLL-CYYZ

BA99 / B772 / G-VIIN
BA93 / B742 / G-BDXJ

Could help with some more but definitely need flight numbers especially with some. for example Air France has 8 daily on one of those days and its the only way to know which.

Hi Geirge,

Thanks once again. The LHR-YYZ was definitely a 777 as I'd never been on a 747 and I remember it being quite a new plane as well.

Not sure if I do still have the flight numbers for the Air France flights and if I do they will be somewhere at my parents house. From memory and checking some photos from the trip the flight from Manchester would've been mid morning-ish between 8am - 10am. The flight to Boston was about 1/2pm landing about 8pm (EST). Coming back I think the flight from BOS-CDG was about early evening time. I do know that the CDG-BOS was delayed, it was either the first or second one in the morning.

I do have flight numbers for MAN-PHL 25/10/2000 - US197; PHL-BWI 25/10/2000 - US2135 (interestingly the itinerary I received from the travel agent states that this aircraft was a A319 when I distinctly remember the plane being a turbo-prop!); BWI-PHL 29/10/2000 - US3774.

I've got (to hand) most of the flight numbers for all the post 2008 flights.

Cheers,

Stevie

If you are sure it is a B777 then the above are correct. it would make sense as both are 97/98 builds so just a couple years old in 2000.

I can't get those other US flights.

Found a couple NW ones though.

14-11-2002 / NW37 / AMS-BOS / DC10 / N227NW
02-12-2002 / NW38 / BOS-AMS / DC10 / N243NW

28-07-2003 / NW37 / AMS-BOS / DC10 / N224NW
08-08-2003 / NW38 / BOS-AMS / DC10 / N225NW

Also can't get AF MAN-CDG because too many and will need flight numbers but got the Boston flights:

25-11-2003 / AF322 / CDG-BOS / A343 / F-GLZG
30-11-2003 / AF321 / BOS-CDG / A343 / F-GLZO

As for the Ryanair flights I will need the flight numbers although no promises on success rate.

Got 1 though

16-07-2008 / MAN-DUB / FR? / EI-DLM (as you got) You left about 1530 then.
for the return 2 options:

16-07-2008 / DUB-MAN / EI-DLE / (around 1945)
16-07-2008 / DUB-MAN / EI-DCC / (around 2200)

Not so lucky this time at all on any. 2009 has a huge omission where some data comes from. I got one though. The last EZY one.

Not at all you are being extremely helpful George!

Added some more flight numbers:

Not so sure with that very first BA flight, whether the number of the aircraft is correct.

Thanks once again you have been a tremendous help!

Hi George.

If I may ask. What resource are you using to get these? I tremendously appreciate your ability to get the information about long ago NW flights.

28 Apr 1999 NW68 DTW-AMS B744 This was my first flight.
13 Jun 2003 OS378 AMS-VIE A3xx
26 Jun 2003 LO267 WAW-AMS B73x

22 Jul 2004 NW2752 (Mesaba) YXU-DTW S340
21 Jul 2007 NW854 MEX-DTW A319
11 Jun 2010 KL1363 AMS-WAW B73G
2 Jul 2010 DL5747 (Compass) ORD-DTW E175
15 Aug 2010 DL3385 (Mesaba) PVD-DTW CRJ9
No conclusion can be offered, for the history recounted above is still unfolding.

Filtering the list does indeed make it easier. It has also just added a whole bunch of new flights from 2011 that weren’t in your previous posts. Are there more below in which case post another picture. I’ll look for more later but I did get the bottom of the list one.

I have used a huge mix depending on Flight year and destination.

For LHR/LGW www.lhr-lgw.co.uk
For others either ACARS or FlightStats. The more modern the better in terms of reliability and no promises. I’ll have a look for some later when I have more time.

FAA database has lots for domestic US flights.

I've done yours first and here is all I got.

28-Apr-1999 / NW68 / B744 / N662US
13-Jun-2003 / OS378 / A320 / OE-LBT (FYI: This is showing as VIE-AMS on ACARS not the other way around.)

Sorry I can't be of more use. Mesaba and Compass don't seem to exist on DoT website and only works for domestic too. The KLM/LOT are just unlucky and have for some days just not yours! Got your first flight ever though. :)

If you have anymore send them through.

Here is what I got then:

22-09-1999 - Only have data for 12/30 random days that month and not the 22nd. However G-BNWH (B763) operated all those flights. Clearly 1 based in MAN for the NYC flight so if I was aa betting man then thats your plane.

15-02-2002 / MAN-JFK / BA 1503 / B763 / G-BNWH
28-Jul-2003 / MAN-AMS / KL 1076 / B733 / PH-BDO / {Showing as B733 not F70)
Nov/Dec 2003 Air France Flights / {Way too many flights but have all if you can get a flight number}
10-Aug-2009 / JFK-ORD / B6 907 / N593JB / A320
12-Aug-2009 / ORD-JFK / B6 918 / N503JB / A320
16-Jun-2011 / MAN-ZRH / LX 391 / HB-IJD / A320
16-Jun-2011 / ZRH-DME / LX 1326 / HB-IJV / A320
19-Jun-2011 / DME-FRA / LH 1449 / D-AISK / A321 / {A321 not A320 recorded}
19-Jun-2011 / FRA-MAN / LH 948 / G-MIDO / A320
05-Aug-2011 / MAN-LHR / {Way too many flights (12) but have all if you can get a flight number}
20-Aug-2011 / EWR-LHR / BA 185 / G-ZZZB / B772 / {B777-200 non-ER}

That's all I could get from those flights I think unless you find more registrations. As I said before filtering the list does indeed make it easier for me. Thanks. Also it has also just added a whole bunch of new flights from 2011 that weren’t in your previous posts almost as if you can't get all into one image. I hope that makes sense. In the most recent post the 1st shown is 1999 BA to JFK and last is the EWR-LHR BA in 2011. If more send through.

Please repost another filtered picture/screenshot of the flights that wold be great.

Hi George.

If I may ask. What resource are you using to get these? I tremendously appreciate your ability to get the information about long ago NW flights.

28 Apr 1999 NW68 DTW-AMS B744 This was my first flight.

I've done yours first and here is all I got.

I will have a look for these too. The first two I seem to have MXP-DTW and DTW-FCO not the other way around which seems odd? Are sure thats the correct order? Also if you have flight numbers for any of these flights it will save me a lot of time and give you more results. If not I'll have a look anyway and post back when I get some. :)

Thank you. I am certain that it was DTW-MXP on 10 May 2000 because I flew MXP-FCO on Alitalia E145 (the only one delivered at the time I-EXMA) and I actually remember boarding via stairs and that I sat in the very back. So it was NW65 FCO-DTW 22 May 2000. I suppose if you have the aircraft for the opposite route it should be the same aircraft with which I flew. .... But it could be that my mom who told me this years ago simply remembered wrong.

Thank you for the correction about NW52/51. I will try to discover the other flight numbers.

That is true most of the time the outbound and inbound same aircraft. Doesn’t quite work domestic or between hubs but an airline with 1 daily longhaul like in this case if it operated DTW-FCO it’s likely to operate the return. Not always with bigger airlines though. Some US carriers to major cities such as London vary. Eg DL has one aircraft do ATL-LHR-MSP and another MSP-LHR-ATL. Just to move the aircraft around and for timings although this is unusual. Another reason it might not is if he airline does maintenance down route. In NWs case it will be true. I’ll have another look tomorrow for you.

I had a bug and NW65 shows as a different route even though NW66 is DTW-FCO. Just a visual glitch my end and is the same as the DTW-FCO leg.

Your flight 22-May-2000 / NW65 / FCO-DTW / DC10 / N227NW (Yes again! This seems to be your DC10 Haha) :)

EXCELLENT WORK George!

Thinking back I must have mis-remembered one of the F70s!

Dug out some more flight numbers and added them to the list. Still looking for more! Only 87 more flights to go, lol!

Here's the filtered list again with my latest additions:

Thanks once again George, you've been a massive help! :)

When I’m home from work I’ll take a look but almost 100% chance on all flights into or out of LHR/LGW. (My home airports). I hopefully will get most. We’ll see later. It’s not a problem at all.
A few people helped me finish mine. I have all 149/149 of my flights that I know of done now so happy to help others.

Excellent as ever George - I'm trying to hunt down more of the flight numbers, especially those pesky Air France ones (I'll turn my parents' house upside down if I have to, as that's where the boarding cards/paperwork will be).

Thanks once again!

The KL flight LIS-AMS maybe was a day earlier- 18 May 2002, if I flew on 19 May the NW39 departing 0800 according to people on Flightmemory. Maybe there was another later flight to DTW with DC10 on 19 May?

The NW flight AMS-DTW 22 May 2001 must be the first one after arrival from the KL1698, I will be able to verify it with the timetable.

The KL flight AMS-CDG 08 Sep 2001 was the first one after arrival of the NW40, Morgan Freeman was also on the flight and I got his autograph.

Do you have the KL flight AMS-WAW 29 Apr 1999, it should be the KL1363 first after arrival from the NW68?

I will keep digging.

To answer your points then:

- I will look tomorrow for the KL Flight day before and check for you. I have the day off tomorrow.
- NW39 is a morning departure from AMS as you said and you did have DC10 with a question mark on that one. NW had two daily flights to AMS from DTW and the later one is the B744 flight so it could be that NW68 (same as your first flight). The two NW39/40 DC10 rotation and NW68/69 a B744 rotation.
- The AMS-DTW on 22-May-2001 isn't in the above list from before but I can try and find it for you.
- You checked and the KLM was KL1698 and not the others? If so well done.
- I will check the KL flight times for AMS-CDG and see which one it was likely to be tomorrow when I have time.
- I think I may have missed the KL AMS-WAW (29-Apr-1999). I'll check that too tomorrow and also if you think KL1363 that makes it easier.

Hope that answers some of your points and I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Just saw that imgur link is a KLM from 2015. Is that another flight you want me to try and find?

Below is a copy of the boarding pass so I have the data to hand when I look tomorrow. I assume you want registration and type for the flight?

Nah, at that point I kept track of the regs, that photo is just for fun.
No conclusion can be offered, for the history recounted above is still unfolding.

There is some more I have got for you. Let me now if you have more or further flight number details.

George

Superb. Enjoy your day off.

In this case the return AMS-DTW was likely the second flight, with B744.

- I have no record for KL1363 in Apr-1999 unfortunately.

- As for 19-May-2002 there were two options:
19-May-2002 / AMS-DTW / DC10 / NW39 / N223NW (dep. 0800 ish)
19-May-2002 / AMS-DTW / B744 / NW67 / N663US (dep. 1030 ish)

- AMS-CDG KL Flight - NW40 got in at 0540am The first KLM flight that morning is 0715am so must be that.
08-Sep-2001 / AMS-CDG / B739 / KL1227 / PH-BXP

- You mentioned a NW AMS-DTW on 22/05/01. Again two options but this wasn't on original list but said you wanted it?
22-May-2001 / AMS-DTW / DC10 / NW39 / N240NW (dep. 0800 ish)
22-May-2001 / AMS-DTW / B744 / NW67 / N664US (dep. 1030 ish)

Sorry but I'm now getting very confused with all the flights. Could you post again a new list of the ones you want me to check for. It would just make it a bit easier to work out. Thanks a lot.

I've been helping theslider too. Don't worry! :D It's good to have a thread like this for everyone as the last one was locked after a while.

Here goes again. The ones below is what I could get. Can't help with the ones without a date though. Unfortunately I'm neither magic nor telepathic!

I have all of mine in my.flightradar24 too. It's such a cool way to see where you've been and on what aircraft. Also shows some totally unnecessary facts but still really cool.

What about this one
06 FEB 2016 DL62 LHRBOS B763

I had recorded N169DZ but the crew corrected it to N178DN.

Not a problem, George has been a great help to me and you've alerted me to the existence of flightdiary (now myflightradar) so am in the process of putting my flights on there!
