Airports/terminals and Flight Crew Spotting

Sat Apr 07, 2018 4:30 pm

Almost as fun as plane spotting is airline crew spotting. Imagine sitting waiting for your flight and then seeing SQ Girls and Boys walking past, or then a northern European crew which you can't identify and then discover it's the crew for Aeroflot.
Some airlines have their own special building where crew will complete their pre-flight briefings and then proceed directly to the flight. EK at DXB must do this as I never see EK except ground staff in T3.
T1 with its fair share of longhaul airlines that do crew layovers is full of activity around certain times of day. AMM has very few/no airlines that layover crew so not much to see except RJ crew.

Any observations or reminisces about crew spotting are welcome.

I've seen IB gather at the check-in area for AA at ORD. If you're in any DL hub, you'll see any number of their crews.

FI crew just hanging out with pax in T2 in MSP. Generally a good looking bunch, I must say.

The Hyatt right next to LAX where many crew seem to layover is a neat place to observe, not only because its a nice hotel that is exceptionally affordable, but being able to watch take off and landings on 24R/L from your room is really cool. Bonus: that you can actually walk all the way from your plane to your room is surprising.

No matter where you are, if the Korean Air flight crew comes through, you know it.

Was at the Brooklyn (Bridge) Marriott earlier this week. Lufthansa flight crews seemed to be constantly in the lobby checking in and out.

I was in the Midland Hotel Manchester last week and a gaggle of happy PIA crew wandered through. Not a bad place to stay!

Every time I am at Perth Airport T1 there's always mobs of VA & SQ cabin crew shuffling around the area.
