Dep/Arr Airports you've flown with one letter difference

Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:44 pm

Hi guys. Just returned yesterday from PVR (Puerto Vallarta) to YVR (Vancouver) my home town. When I looked at my boarding pass it started me thinking if is ever flown other routes with one letter difference and I couldn't readily think of one.
Any of you guys flown a one letter difference route?
By the way I was on an Air Transat A330 both ways

From one music industry capital to another: BMA to BNA.
Other than that, IAD to IAH, and LAX to LAS, which are also probably the most common pairs meeting this criteria.

For me, I flew the evening CO1054 IAH-IAD flight which served a lovely Salisbury Steak in Y. It was lovely because this was Continental Airlines pre-cheeseburger and pre-chicken caesar sandwich on CO Express.

I'd imagine YYZ to YYC would also be up there. I've done both IAD-IAH and BGO-BOO.

One I flew very recently DED-DEL with Jet Airways on an ATR72-500

Other airports I have used though not in the pairs suggested - but maybe interesting routes if any airline is looking to lose some money:

DAD-DED (Da Nang to Dehradun maybe via DEL?)
CWB-CWL (Curatiba to Cardiff)
PMC-PMI (Puerto Montt to Palma, Majorca)

One more theoretical route that springs to mind is DEL-DAL

One of them will have been BRU.

I actually was on only one such direct flight: DRS-DUS on AB. And I took SCL-LSC on LA, which has exactly the same letters, just the last one moved to the front.

There are quite a number of airports in Europe that offer/offered such direct flights, although I haven't been on them: DUS-DUB, TLS-TFS, TOS-TFS, LBA-LCA, LBA-LPA, ORY-XRY, MAD-MAH, MAN-MAD, MAN-MAH, NUE-FUE, STN-STR, AMS-AES, BGO-BOO, TRD-TRF and a lot more.

Slightly off topic, I think the only regularly operated route that's spelled the same in both directions is BUD-DUB/DUB-BUD.

TUIFly seems to fly HAM-MAH this summer season, and there might be others.

OP didn't specifically specify that the one letter difference had to be in the same position. If that was the intention or they thought that was implied, my bad.

That route does not exist!

My only flights were SVX-SVO (SU) (Yekaterinburg/Koltsovo to Moscow/Sheremetyevo). Yekaterinburg was Sverdlovsk back in the soviet times, that's why the code, SVO-VVO (SU) (Moscow/Sheremetyevo to Vladivostok/Knevichi), and RGA-RGL (8R) (Río Grande to Río Gallegos, in Southern Argentina, by Sol Líneas Aéreas in Saab 340B)

In Argentina they offered this year seasonal summer flights on the route MDQ-MDZ.
CRD-COR could enter in this list, as CRD goes for Comodoro Rivadavia, while COR for Córdoba. Some people mixes both codes, as most of the people believe Córdoba is just CBA (the national FAA code, as well as the way press speaks of the 2nd largest city of the country). I once found a luggage tag (printed) of LADE (Argentine Air Force Airline) that stated CDR (for Comodoro, which is it base). I'm not sure that's the FAA code, but is not an official code whatsoever...
