Hub in Tampa or Orlando?

Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:16 pm

If you were starting an airline and had to choose between these two cities to headquarter which would you choose? Both of these cities are growing very quick and have a large population. They both have many pros and cons. Tampa has a growing business community and has recently been named one of the top places to start or relocate a company headquarters in America. It also may be easier to establish a presence because there is less traffic going through. The big negative to me is that it is smaller with shorter runways and less area to expand around it. Orlando has a bigger airport with longer runways, more room to expand, and also attracts people from all over the world. the only real negative i can think of is that its a larger tourism market instead of a business market. I personally don't think you could necessarily go wrong with either one because of their strengths and in the future there could be a high speed train in the future connecting these two because of their close proximity to each other.

Neither ?
Do you really mean an airline hub, cuz neither city or airport seems particularly suited to the role.
Buuuuuuuuuut... if I absolutely had to pick - it'd be Orlando. Gotta start a hub operation with significant O/D traffic, and Orlando certainly has that. Ops to Mexico and Central America are pretty darn obvious, can't say that'd be true from Tampa.
