United Brand Refresh/Throwback Concept

Thu Jan 25, 2018 3:34 pm

Just playing with some ideas. Please move this to the correct forum if it's misplaces.
I took the iconic UA rainbow livery and applied an adaptation to modern jets. I took the same tulip logo footprint and made a tricolor 'U', with the same orange, red, and purple used by Saul Bass. In fact, this still heralds to Continental, if that's a concern for designers. The expansion of the cheatlines at the end of the aircraft pays homage to Continental's globe logo of the 80s.
I'd love to hear feedback and things you think could be improved upon.

Adaptations on the wordmark in different colors and contexts. Can't decide if I want the official wordmark to read 'United' or 'United Airlines'.

Now for the planes.

Constructive criticism and feedback greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Looks like a.net didn't like those photos. Here's a link to them.

I thought Continental's 1980's logo was called the meatball logo.

I like the concept of 'modern retro', but I can't get behind this particular execution.

I don't think they should take the tulip or globe in the next rebrand; they should start fresh. However, I really would love to see them acquire the last TWA livery from AA, replace the metallic red with metal blue and they have a fantastic livery if they choose to carry on the globe concept. Not sure what they would do with the tail however.

I like the idea - but for some reason, every time I look at the pictures, all I see is a DC8 regardless of which aircraft :D

This definitely seems more like a special a la AA Retro.

Too anachronistic. The 1970s were all about orange and red, but the 2010s aren't.

The Tulip is dead, long may it live. The globe is now UA's symbol. But definitely a new corporate visual identity is needed.

Sorry, buy I'm not one who yearns for the Bass color days or the tulip. I appreciate your effort, but this is a special design much like the Astrojet.

Why don't the 767's get the new livery?

That would look great, it's such a shame that one of the best airline liveries had such a short life.

I like your design, but I think the color scheme is a problem. It just isn't "serious" enough looking - and by that, I mean corporate. I think it would be wonderful for an LCC or a leisure airline, but as a global giant, its just too...... fun ;)
