I was thinking about how some DC-9s found life post PAX service as a freighter and was curious if anyone thinks the 717 could also stumble into the same fate? Perhaps it would be of useful size to some cargo carriers or replace DC-9 freighters currently in service.
What are your thoughts?

I don't think anyone would invest in a Freighter conversion program. The DC-9Fs had capacity of 6 or 8 pallets (-10 and -30) models and with 733s being available with a similar capacity after a BCF program, my guess would be that potential operators rather switch to those. After all, spare parts for the 737 should be easier to get in some years compared to those for the 717s.

I’ve contemplated purchasing one in about 10 years, stripping it out and making it into a house. The only planes I would like to do that to are the A340 and 717. Maybe a 727 but it’s hard to find airworthy ones at a reasonable price.
