A free ice skating rink inside an airport? Now you're speaking my language! That is pretty insane, and would be an awesome thing to do during a layover!

Checked luggage, mate! That’s how I bring my skates when I travel! If it’s post security then I’m sure they have rental skates.

I doubt TSA would allow skates in the hand luggage airside, so I would expect them offering rental skates. But an ice rink inside an airport sounds like a really fun place to be for a layover or when checking in early.

From the photo, it looks like the rink is actually landside, or am I mistaken?

Yeah ice skates are a big no no for the TSA. I think it is landside because the article mentions a mite hockey team would be using the rink at some point. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense for those kids to have to be screened and everything to go airside for a hockey practice. Plus they’re also having a former Avalanche player come by and sign autographs and skate with the fans, so I wouldn’t think they’d have such an event airside and restrict the public from going.

Has to be landside as I don't see where they would be able to even fit an ice rink in the airside areas, at least not until the reconfig of the Great Hall is done.

I believe ICN also has an ice skating rink inside the landside terminal. Not the first in the world, but cool to see it make its way to the States.

Reminds me of SIN in a way. Haven't been there before, but they have everything in the airport, including a movie theater.
