Is it possible to see which aircraft will operate my flight?

Wed Oct 11, 2017 11:00 am

Hi,
I want to know if there is any way to find out which specific registration a/c will be operating my flight: BA253. I would imgine BA don't make this public but i just want to check as this route is commonly operated with a 777-200 which all have old economy. and occasionally operated with G-VII series aircraft.

You can see on the BA database if you have access but the odds of changing is incredibly high. However a few days ahead you can sometimes see on sites such as Flightradar24. BA 253 is usually G-YMM? fleet though.

The LHR-NAS-GCM route is operated with the 275-seat 777-200ER (48 Club World, 24 World Traveller Plus, 203 World Traveller). Previous aircraft used include G-YMMC, G-YMME, G-YMMU and G-YMMT.

Hi, don’t know if you can do the same with BA, but when I fly I usually check on FR the flight coming to my departure airport and see the reg there. For example, when my flight number is 323, searching the flight 322 shows the aircraft that I will board later.
Good luck anyway, and smooth landings.

Yeah, I always do that, and will do a day in advance by looking at 772's that land about an hour before. But this could always change due to aircraft being pulled out of maintenance or a last minute swap.

Fine at a limited service outstation (ie if he was in NAS or GCM awaiting his rtn leg) but all but useless at the home hub as the aircraft rotate through maintenance and other destinations

@Ethan
BA usually use the 275 seat 3 class CW/WT+/WT (G-YMM*) fleet on this route afaik.
You'll maybe pick up a reg# on FR a few hours beforehand but I'm guessing you'll be on the flight regardless of aircraft anyway so not worth fretting over.

Yes, I also check FR24 a few hours before, but it is subject to change occasionally too. If I am at the airport I check the Gate number for the incoming flight that is my Gate number for departure, then I can track the incoming flight with the detail like tail number.
