Anything that makes passing through security is a good thing. Facial recognition is a bit disconcerting. However, finger prints must have been when they first came into widespread use.

Well, technologies like this are inevitable, but it also inevitably will cause some pretty major concern among many people. I think there will be a lot of resistance to similar schemes in the western world. There are a lot of privacy concerns with the government utilizing technology like this to track people's movements. I would support something like this if the technology and the database contents were limited to airport security and/or border security, with some sort of legal restriction limiting its use for those specific purposes. It would be extremely convenient for passengers registered in expedited programs like Global Entry or TSA PreCheck to simply walk through, but the privacy concerns certainly are real.

I see that the tunnel can be adapted to display adverts... and thus they will arrive at British airports in the near future.
