Connecting on WN.

I've flown WN many times nonstop but I've never had a connection with them. What decides my boarding position on the second flight? I've always purchase EB when flying WN and plan to this time how does that effect my boarding position of the second flight.

I think Early Bird applies for all of the flights on a given trip.
