AA mainline upgrades from DFW

Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:24 pm

Was browsing for a ticket to the Florida panhandle next February and noticed AA will be operating some flights with mainline aircraft into Pensacola (PNS) and Destin/Fort Walton Beach (VPS). For PNS it looks like 2 flights will be on the A319, with the other flights a mix of E75, E145 and CR9 aircraft. VPS will get two M80's, the rest are CR7 & CR9.

I know PNS has seen mainline to DFW before with M80's, but surprised to see it again along with VPS. I think this will be the first time AA has operated mainline aircraft into VPS. Good upgrades for AA and to challenge DL for some market share.

Anyone else notice any other mainlines routes via DFW next winter?

February is still pretty far out for AA's domestic schedule. As far as equipment goes, the schedule is really only "valid" at this point up to December 14th. They haven't even loaded the peak December equipment changes yet. Give it a couple more months to be finalized; not saying it will change, but there's a good possibility.

Just did DFW-VPS-DFW, such a nice ride on the brand new 175s. Makes sense some times of the year for the upgauge, very convenient airport.

ORF just recently went from all MD-80 to all 737-800 to/from DFW. AA.com shows it going back to MD-80 after December 14. Guess there is a chance it gets updated for just 737s after that date?

Seems like they are bouncing them around a bit. Even on the smaller jets, E45's are being upgraded to CR9's and E75's. I think the mix of aircraft will continue as the 50 seaters are cut back. I commute DFW-BNA-DFW weekly, and what once was a pure M80 route, now gets 73H and an occasional 319.
