Transit through AMS

Sun Aug 20, 2017 5:43 pm

Hello everyone

I am going to be flying from MAN to HGH via Amsterdam. Now I've looked online about transferring but I'm a bit confused.
Some places have said if you're going from a Schengen to non-Schengen flight you need to go though security, but other sites say that if you are coming from a Schengen country plus the UK and Ireland and going on to a non-Schengen flight, you also need to go through security.

Can someone clarify if I'll need to go through security and what else I can expect?
I've never gone through Amsterdam before so I'd like to know what I should expect beforehand

You will probably have to go through a security check, but no passport check, since you aren't entering or leaving the Schengen area.

You don't go through either security nor passport control as you arrive non schengen and depart non schengen. Just check you're departure gate upon arrival in Amsterdam, it can change and enjoy you're flight. Just a tip, make sure you check in on time in MAN yesterday I went home and it was a nightmare at security. Took over 30 minutes to have our bag checked that got rejected and almost missed our flight.

You will not have to clear security when arriving from MAN. You will just walk to your next gate.

If you are returning via the same routing, you will probably have to clear security. Pax from the EU, US, Canada and other certain countries don't have to reclear security when connecting. You do have to reclear from most places in Africa, the Middle East, and many places in Asia. I'm not sure about China but it's possible.
