This should make some people happy that would not splurge for biz class or economy plus seats

Is seems like they had this before and then took it away? I remember buying Delta Tickets and every time I would check the itinerary they would offer me a price to upgrade one direction or the other. The price changed almost every day.

"Or even first class", implying Delta One is less-than first class? Clearly the author (not OP, the article author) doesn't know what they're talking about.

I took advantage of this a few times on ATL-MSP-ATL when I would get the offer. Usually ~$200/rt extra to go to F vs $60-80 to go to E+. It was a great bargain as it included my checked bag ($50 r/t) and flight is long enough for meal service (figure $30 r/t at airport prices).
