BA LHR @ T3, why?

Wondering why they use T3 for US flights, are they maxed out over at T5?
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!
Growing older, but not up.

simple answer. Yes, at peak times I believe so.

I believe it has to do with some codeshares as well but I'm not sure.

T5 was never going to be big enough for the whole BA operation, even from day one.
We'd like to welcome in particular our Executive Club members and those joining us from our Oneworld alliance partners.

Not all US flights are from T3 and many more including Europe destinations do go from T3. It is purely over capacity with T5 not able to handle all flights. Especially at busy times in the day.

It would make sense to me [from a customer perspective] if all BA/AA and BA/IB flights operating under codeshares to the same city left from the same terminal. eg I booked a return to ORD both with BA flight numbers - outbound was actually an AA flight from T3, the return was with BA to T5. As an informed amateur I knew about the BA/AA JBA and checked the terminal arrangements before booking taxis [or the same would apply to car parking/met by friends etc] and had no problems - but your average traveller my just assume that as both flights have a BA number they would depart and arriive at the same terminal. So maybe shift the BA flights to ORD to T3 and, for an examle shift the AA flights to JFK to T5.

Another reason I heard was that they stay on the terminal committee so can see what the other airlines eg VS are doing. EI are at T2 so IAG can see whats going on there too.

If T5D ever gets build would that be enough for BA to go entirely to T5?
