International to Domestic Transfer at ATL

Mon Apr 24, 2017 2:39 am

My friends have 7 hour lay over in ATL on their way to SEA from Costa Rica on DL. What is the best way if I want to meet them at the airport and hang out for some time? How does the transfer process work in ATL? I am new to ATL and haven't flow in or out of ATL for a long time.

They will clear customs and bag re-check and be out of Terminals E or F to continue on to SEA.
They can exit the terminal to meet you as long as they have a boarding pass for the SEA flight to re-clear security.
You obviously can only meet them as you have no boarding pass to clear security so they'll be airside to meet you and "hang out" somewhere you choose to take them. Depending on the time of day maybe lunch at a nearby hotel or restaurant, or shopping?
They should allow 60-90 minutes to re-clear security and proceed to the SEA flight gate particularly if they're flying on the last ATL-SEA flight. DL will take a dim view of missing a flight after a 7 hour layover.
Marta to downtown maybe to save you driving around? It'll pretty much be up to you to figure out the "hanging out" part.
