I have a couple of questions for anybody who has recently flown on the overnight CX178 flight between MEL and HKG.
This coming May/June I will need to travel between Melbourne and Manila via Hong Kong with either Qantas or Cathay Pacific (need one of those to rack-up QF points). Last year I managed to secure the very comfortable QF29/30 B747 service between MEL and HKG both directions on a weekend.
This year however, it seems the Qantas website schedule shows an A330 operating the service all week and no more 747 which is a bit of a let down and not worth the effort heheh.
So I'm instead considering trying the CX178 B77W overnight service to save myself some time, money and a hotel stay in HKG in the process. I am just interested to see if the load factor will be high or if I am lucky enough to get a relatively empty plane. Red-eye flights aren't much fun, especially in the back of a 777, but I find if you have a spare seat next to you, it can still be comfortable and enjoyable.
Anyway, if anybody can shine some light on their past experiences on this flight that would be amazing.
Thanks in advance!
