I just looked at the very nice picture posted, of the underside of an Etihad aircraft.
I like this idea, what other airlines display their brand underside?
Has Air Canada got something like this going with the new livery?

Yes, they have the maple leaf roundel on the belly.
It is a growing trend that started with Emirates. QR and DL also do it now, along with countless other airlines other people can mention.

Air Berlin is another one that comes to mind that has been doing it for a long time. Transavia's new livery features the stylized "T" on the belly as well. I know there are a few more but I can't seem to think of any off the top of my head right now...

I know Delta has their name and the belly and Southwest has something on the belly. Doesn't spirit have their name on the belly as well?

Aer Lingus A320 EI-DEI in the Green Spirit Rugby special colour scheme, has #Green Spirit on it`s underbelly.

Qantas also now have their name on the underbelly of three A330's that have recently painted in their modified colour scheme.

It's just my personal taste: but I loathe them. I personally think that it makes a super-premium airline look cheap, un-elegant. I get the fact it increases the number of brand impressions greatly, but for me it takes a beautiful aircraft into a "blimp" - I would love to read some quantitative consumer research where the average flier (not aviation enthusiasts) feels something positive when the look up from the street in London (and elsewhere) and read the name of the airline in giant letters.

I actually love it. I see a lot of Delta flights go overhead and they are low enough that I can read the belly (otherwise I can use the rest of the livery to guess the airline, but most people wouldn't be able to tell liveries apart, necessarily).
I especially think it looks great on the A330, but then just about everything looks great on the A330!
Obviously I'm enough into aviation to be on this forum but I don't consider myself a super-enthusiast or anything and it's definitely positive from my POV. Just my 2 cents.

There's a guy on YouTube that posts video of his Atlanta spotting visits, with a really good line in commentary. He goes out of his way to spot "Deltabellies".
They are what they are, cheap advertising space that the marketing people think is worth that extra time and paint. Always makes me wince at the idea of the strained necks they must cause in the paint shops, masking off and painting those logos and titles in the worst part of the plane to do it.

Kuwait Airways, Flynas, Airberlin, Jetstar, Transavia.
PIA, SriLankan, Biman have country name on there, instead of brand, but not on all aircraft types.
Southwest has a heart with the red and yellow bands on it.

Before WN had the red belly? Or does that not count?
I do think the new WN is a great way of doing it, no big titles or cheap looking words, just an elegant logo and swooping colors.

Just I thought but haven't Alitalia been doing it since the 1950/60s? (ok not on the belly, on the underwing I know) This is probably one of the first branding shown underneath the plane isn't it?
JAL, TOA, SWAL - underwing branding seemed to be popular with the Japanese carriers too - I'm not sure about ANA

Trans-Canada Air Lines did this underwing (not underbelly though) on its DC-4M-2 North Stars when introduced in 1947.

I know that Level uses underbelly branding for it's A332s, which is surprising given its quick, recent low-cost paint job. There was a YouTube video showing this, but can't seem to find the link now.
