KLIA Terminal Spotting

Mon Mar 06, 2017 9:53 am

Hi all,

I am visiting Kuala Lumpur in a month and I am wanting a few shots of widebodies pulling into gates at the Satelite terminal. Problem is I am flying out of KL on MH782 which is a 737 meaning it will be from the main terminal and not the satelite terminal. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to catch the Aero Train and back. I had tried something similar in Incheon but found out the hard way that it was a oneway train system and I could only get back to the main terminal with a security escort. Could anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

KLIA has security at individual gates, meaning arriving and departing passengers are mixed together. it is indeed possible to go to the satellite terminal and back without any issues. However, spotting opportunities are quite limited due to the above mentioned security at the gate since the tarmac is very far from the public accessible areas. The views from the MH lounges (both satellite and main terminal) are good though.

Hi there,
Many thanks for your reply it's very useful!

By that do you mean the windows by the gate are inaccessible unless you were boarding for that particular flight? Thanks.
