I just read on Yahoo aerospace news that AA is beefing up flights between a number of markets and adding all-new routes, among these routes are several to SJC. I am curious to know how the curfew at SJC affects AA's plans of turning SJC into a major west coast hub.

What is the current curfew at SJC? Unless it is very restrictive, like that at SNA, it should be alright. For example, SAN requires flights to be off the ground by 2330 local, so AA (along with every other long-haul carrier at SAN) schedules a departure at about 2300 to Chicago. They could, if they wanted to, operate a redeye to other cities of a similar or greater distance at that time as well, so those markets would probably not be affected by a departure curfew.. The only problem they might face would be a redeye to DFW-distance markets, because the redeye out of LAX to DFW doesn't go until 0130, which would probably be after any curfew.
Also, it matters whether the curfew affects landings, which SAN's does not. Looking at AA's flight schedule, they have an arrival in SJC as late as 2303, so the curfew probably would not hurt an arrivals schedule into SJC. In all, I don't think that it would be too big a deal because relatively little happens at a west coast hub early in the morning or late at night. SJC is not in a position to have flights inbound exteremely early, and the curfew would probably not be in effect by the hour of morning that travellers want to get on a flight. I don't think the curfew would be too big a deal, but it would help to know the specifics of the curfew.
