Great idea for a thread as I'm fascinated by the developments of Airbus at Mobile I think it's a great move by the company and I can see before long production being increased there by 2020 I firmly believe it will be a 8-10 / month FAL

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm pleasantly surprised at 3 already delivered.

Quoting mfranjic (Thread starter):

Now that is interesting! MSN 7301 implies late into 2017?

I didn't realize A320NEOs were allocated yet to Mobile.

Any particular reason why the test registrations for these aircraft are French? Does Mobile see test pilots that come from the Toulouse base and therefore are French licensed?

That's because there aren't yet.

MSN7301 is now a A321 for AA, earlier reports last year (around the BFM official opening in September) said that it would be a neo for NK indeed, but that changed later.

First into a normal A321ceo for NK and now apparently for AA.

I was surprised by the second delivery this month, I thought the plant would stay at 1 jet per month for some time to come.

Of course, the boys and girls at AA know how to take delivery of an A321. They have done it many times before at XFW.

Mobile will be rate 2 for the summer. Rate 3 by end of this year and rate 4 by next summer. The facility is capable of rate 8 but that will require adding another shift. I have heard they want to be at rate 8 by 2018/19.

Looking at reply #7, each airframe has its own test registration. I know the FAA allows Boeing to use the same test registrations on several 737's at the same time as long as only one at a time is flying. Does the European certificate allow the same test registration to be used over and over again, or the same test registration on multiple airframes?

The test registration is reused, but not used on two frames at the same time.

I think when that plan was made, the decision to go to 60 frames a month was not yet made. It is quite logical to ramp faster. After the rate 60 decision, the whole system including suppliers will have started to ramp up.

As long as the aircraft are in the production phase, they are under POA (production organization approval) - a delegation of authority by the certification authorities towards Airbus. The POA for Airbus FAL is issued by EASA. I assume that, as it is a "copy" of the XFW FAL, the BFM FAL has been certified in the same manner. And I assume that for that reason, European registration must be used. Why F and not D, I have no idea.
To have a US registration, Airbus would have to recertify the FAL under FAA and apply for a POA, which would be a high cost for no real gain.

NooooOOOOOO! You have a CFM in that list.

I knew the IAE/Pratt love fest was too good to last, but I was enjoying it.

So MSN7821 ends the streak...

As DL remained loyal to CFM. Not a bad business decision on their part, just not what I was rooting for.

Just to be clear, An A320, not an A321. I do not expect any A321NEOs until 4+ months after certification.

I'm going to 2nd this question. The A320-271 that I knew about was moved to Europe. Are Pratt's issues forcing all A321CEO production for now?

Could Mobile just transition to the A321NEO? Production isn't that far away...

iirc from what I have read of the first 50 frames off the line will all except 1 frame be A321 thus 98% A321 2% A320 I'm not sure such a ratio will continue long term

It is not that unlikely to see this ratio continuing. Mobile is only the second facility doing A321 besides XFW. There is increased A321 production, we have seen month this year were A321 deliveries have been surpassing A320 deliveries. XFW seems to do a mainly A321 as it is, beside some A320neo and only very few A320ceo..

So transfer from A321ceo only to A321neo only is possible.
