Good. I hope it turns out to be true. Variety is the spice of life and KLM in the past never disappointed in this by flying a handful of (almost) every widebody around. :D. With the 744 leaving it, they can do with some fresh blood.

Too bad they never bought a handful of A343s. They would have looked great in light blue.

Delight to see both -1000 test aircraft smoothly clocking up the hours. Looks as if the thorough approach adopted with the -900 paying dividends and will produce certification on schedule.

Not yet in FR24 database so not trackable as an A350. That is two first flights so far this month. Probably no deliveries but there will be some next month.

The two flying -1000's are clocking up the hours and today the -900 test frame ws doing significant low speed testing.

According to one of the pictures that were taken about like a week ago, one of the Air Caraibes A350s was parked on the flight line. Right next to MSN70 and MSN47. But obviously it is not there anymore and moved for further rework. Just wondering what happened there. Is it normal to move frames back and forth between flight line and stations?

That was MSN 91 TX #2. It is temporary parked on the flight line before moving to the next phase of assembly.

Probably mentioned before in which case I am sorry, but what is the reason MSN71, the 3rd built -1000 is flying already and MSN65 F-WLXV is not?

Unrelated, but I just checked the online spreadsheet and I am very disappointed and disgusted that Airbus will start skipping MSNs again, they will not build MSN 108 and 131 due for American. Wouldn't it be nicer and easier to shuffle around numbers and fill these gaps? :banghead: Now just like with the other types we will have MSN 1000 being only the 987th built for instance and so on.

I guess it will be optional. If you already operate a A350 fleet you want to avoid a fleet with different IFE, seatcounts and galley configurations.. Maybe it will be refittable. https://leehamnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/350-cabin-improvements2-28.01.2015.png

MSN 65 has an interior fitted whilst MSN 71 doesn't , so 65 took longer to assemble.

An interesting piece of information regarding wing production:

The site is currently working on wings for 10 A350s at a time as Airbus ramps up production to what will be its highest ever level for a wide-body plane. The factory handed over 72 A350 wingsets last year, and is now working on aircraft no. 144, Gerrard said. The next milestone will be to incorporate a twist in the -900’s wings that’s being introduced with the -1000, he said.

What is the expected benefit of amending the wing twist? I am presuming there will be greater lift and/or reduced drag.

Does anyone know what will happen to range/payload from this change?

The wing twist on the A380 was introduced starting MSN95, I believe. Not sure about the payload / range characteristics, but I was under the impression the twist is based on historic data available later in the aircraft's life about airflow of the wing. Thus the twist optimizes wing lift distribution, which helps the stalling properties. (or reduces them)

Does anyone knows something about some or all of the LATAM/JJ A350s going to QR?

And to make this rumor more consistent:

"LATAM Airlines Brasil in recent schedule update adjusted planned International operation from 26MAR17, including reduced operation for Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft. As of 17JAN17, planned service changes as follow.

Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Miami 777-300ER continues operation, 2 daily, instead of planned A350
Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Orlando 26MAR17 – 31MAY17 Boeing 767 replaces A350, 1 daily
Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Paris CDG A350-900XWB replaces 777-300ER, however the 350 will operate on alternating days, instead of 1 daily

Previously planned adjustment remains unchanged:
Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Milan Malpensa Boeing 767 replaces A350, 1 daily
Sao Paulo Guarulhos – New York JFK Reduce from 10 to 7 weekly, 777-300ER operates daily

On separate note, planned Airbus A350 service on Sao Paulo Guarulhos – Santiago de Chile from 26MAR17, has switched back to Boeing 767."

Source:http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/270924/latam-airlines-brasil-ns17-long-haul-changes-as-of-17jan17/

So no more A350 on MIA route, 767 replacing MCO and MXP routes.
It seems that only MAD (daily) was untouched, plus CDG ( not daily)....

The A350 is so much better from a pax point of view. Both C and Y on JJ are way better on the A350.

The article that Karel referenced about the wing twist has been edited slightly...
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/ ... ivery-push
The next milestone will be to incorporate a “twist” in the -900’s wings that’s being introduced with the -1000 to fine-tune the geometrical assembly of some wing components, he said.

Does this mean its for production improvement and not aerodynamic?

Changing the twist is for aerodynamics, they probably do production improvements at the same time.

Would anyone change aerodynamics to the worse for some improvement in production?

Must be neutral or bring some gain or other afaics. On the A380 it was to improve aerodynamics.

Where did I say that it was for the worse? I am well aware of what they did on the a380.... The reason I brought it up was the specific editing in the article which now makes it look like some sort of production improvement move. I am a bit confused myself as to how a twist change can help with better geometric alignment of parts....

The specific wording of a non aviation expert. Just shortening a few sentences, leaving out a few words out of the explanation one got, can change the sense.

Nobody changes wing twist just to ease production. Wing twist is an important aerodynamic factor that is not played with.

Parts as said is arriving so it should be moved to station 50 soon which is fuselage join.
