CIs original delivery plans were 6 this year, so while its possible they may move one up maybe its destined for early new year delivery.

Does anyone know what appears to be a very small unpainted part near the top of the rudder? All A350s have this. It's very visible in the pic of the HX and SQ A350s above.

If you mean the silver stripe on the vertical tailplane leading edge, that´s the anti ice system, a stripe of bare metal that gets heated up to remove and prevent any ice formation. If you refer to the little grey spot on the top right corner visible on SQ and HX but not on Lion Air, I believe it´s a little antenna.

Yes I'm referring to that little grey spot on the top right corner of the rudder as I mentioned, not the silver strip on the vertical tailplane! The Lion Air doesn't have it as that's an A330. It's only A350s which have it. Thanks for the possible explanation anyway!

MSN 160 DL #4 is scheduled to be delivered on 11/30 and MSN 164 DL #5 Will deliver on 12/13.
#6 is tentatively scheduled for 12/23, with PTS being done in ATL instead of MSP from #6 and on.

Qatar Airways has just restarted A350 deliveries: 3 in October (MSN 63, 76, 83), 1 in November (MSN 90) and another 3 are due in December (MSN 78, 88, 132). As there is a lot of inventory in TLS, Airbus cannot work on all aircraft simultaneously. Some are being worked on (first photo below), others are parked (second photo below) and others are in temporary storage (third photo below).

I'm not sure if those last two photos are both of MSN 126, A7-ALX, as the tailplane/rudder is different on both, comparing the right side and the left side, and the landing gear is fully protected in the bottom photo! If the pics were taken on different days/weeks, then of course they might be the same aircraft!

The "silver stripe" on the vertical stabilizer is not the anti-ice system -- I don't think any modern A or B airliner has a tail anti-ice system.

I apologize if this has already been discussed (which I'm sure it has) and OT, but why did Airbus go with a narrower fuselage than the 777? I'm guessing weight and aerodynamics, but it doesn't really make the name (XWB) hold true. Barely any difference against the 787 too.

Well it is wider than the original A350 fuselage, which was designed around an 8-abreast standard.

As to why they settled on 9-abreast at 18", at the time the plane was launched, most 777 operators were at 9-abreast in Economy so the A350-900 offered more seats than the 777-200 family and the same number of seats as the 777-300 family (in two class configurations or higher) with significantly lower fuel burn per seat.

I think they went as wide as they could with the existing Beluga fleet. Any bigger and the manufacturing process would have been very different.

787, 777? probably of low interest in that context.

A350 Mk1 sported the 222" A3[0134]0 family fuselage section.
The A350 XWB as the name says has a distinctly wider fuselage.

It is still planed for December this year. MSN88 is painted outfitted and rolled out, waiting for its first engine run, rejected takeoff and first flight.

So that would mark a delivery on the 31st of December. Airbus would meet its 2017 delivery target, and QR would have dragged this as long as they can. Everyone goes home happy.
