LH! With almost all of the legacy European carriers getting them. I wouldn't assume "diversity" to be a problem.

It led me to wonder, which European legacy carriers that haven't ordered any A350s?

Only counting airlines that have long haul service today I can think of:

Icelandair
LOT
Alitalia
Swiss
Austrian
TAP

Austrian will have to decide in forseeable time regarding the renewal of their long haul fleet. The A350 would fit well, permission from mother LH provided. Will depend on their performance in the next years... :| Currently they have to take over 2nd-hand metal from LH (ERJ-190) or A320's in wetlease from AB...

Icelandair and LOT are mostly Boeing oriented IMO, Alitalia is in no position to shop around for shinny expensive A350s (unless passed along by Etihad), and Swiss/Austrian as mentioned above are in the LH family so if LH wants they can order some, although I think that long haul wise Swiss and Austrian are also moving to Boeing. TAP had A350s on order but switched to the A339

Curious to know why all carriers sans QR have only 2 economy seats behind door # 3 with an empty space right next to it. You can look at Seatguru so you know what I'm talking about.

A third seat wouldn't work that well given the space taken up by the door. QR (And a few other airlines I think) that don't have that row and probably uses the extra space to give every other seat in that cabin a bit more legroom or maybe to fit a small storage cabinet in.

MSN 107 (Singapore #14) departing on delivery flight this afternoon #SQ8895. Delivery #20 of 2017.
Interestingly CX, SQ and QR all currently operate 14 A359s.

Those LATAM A350s are just on short term lease and wil be returned later this year. From a production point of view, MSN 69 is QR #15.

That does not change the fact that Qatar is currently operating 18 frames.

How many A350s QR operates through other leases is irrelevant for a production thread.

Than one should very simple not talk about and count how many frames an airline operates, but how many were produced for or delivered to that airline. You accept for your count frames that are outright bought and frames that are leased. The frames we are talking about are registered in Qatar, so we are not talking about a wet lease and the frames being still operated by Latam Airlines.Brasil.

Karel - how is progress on Outstanding Work? It should not be much for current frames but I expect the -1000's may have quite a bit to cover.

Some A350s like Ethiopian Airlines are not going through outstanding work anymore, hence ET deliveries are ahead of other customers. Other aircraft, with the exception of QR and the A350-1000s, are spending just one week or so in those tents.

Finally MSN 83 (Qatar #18/19) is now online on the flightline for the first time.

It definitely looks like delay was caused by QR - once they defined new premium products, it all started to roll on Airbus side.

I guess it was caused by Qatar. I hate to think how vocal AAB would have been if it was caused by Airbus. Old U-Turn also went very quiet on dumping all the neos whilst at the same time putting pressure mostly on P&W.

Lots of politics been going on there. It is obvious they like the A350 given the short term lease of some from LATAM.

MSN 146 will be loaded into final assembly after MSN 158. Several A350s are a little bit out of sequence, perhaps airlines reshuffled deliveries a bit.

Ethiopian Airlines was betting Airbus SE’s new A350 widebody would help it lure lucrative business-class passengers away from the likes of Emirates, but nagging delivery issues are putting Africa’s largest carrier behind schedule.

The airline won’t receive 10 new planes by the end of June as planned, with some coming as late as next year, Thomas Gabreyohannes, the carrier’s director for Germany and central Europe, said in an interview. Ethiopian is counting on the A350s to increase sales of premium tickets, similar to the boost it saw after becoming the first African airline to fly Boeing Co.’s 787 long-haul Dreamliners.

“When we received the Dreamliner, our business-class traffic jumped,” Gabreyohannes said in Frankfurt. “We hope the A350 will have the same impact.”
