I'm not saying that i disagree with you but you are certainly seeing the glass half full. One may play devils advocate and say that QR's expansion is not going as well as expected so cutting PHL/BOS/ADL to 5 weekly during the slow months is actually good business practice which is hidden under the cover of slow plane deliveries as to not seem to the market like the expansion is hitting snags... Again just playing devils advocate... My personal opinion: QR are simply being perfectionists like they were with the 787 (recall that QR (a) forced Boeing to change the production lineup so they wouldn't get anymore planes produced at CHS and (b) only accept for their 787s to be painted at PDX). Airbus will figure it out soon enough and start delivering the A350s to QR smoothly like Boeing is with QR's 787s now. It takes time.

The issue is over compounded by the fact that basically 1 in 2 A350 on the TLS flightline belongs to QR or CX both of which are struggling immensely to take their planes. LATAM and Singapore keep setting records on time from first engine run to delivery. MSN 34/37/41 just did records from time between power on and first engine runs. Ethiopian #1 is well on its way to shatter the record on time from entering FAL to delivery. Program as a whole is certainly moving in the right direction.

Cx has received its planes but has to leave four J seats empty due to certification problems, certainly there is a problem with the A350s.

Whether or not one may accept, QR is facing a shortage of planes and indeed any smart route planner would optimize cutting routes which CAN be cut without financial implications. It doesn't mean these routes are loosing money. It means these routes can survive a flight cut or two.

QR are very picky with their planes and it is no surprise, but Airbus is facing a problem with the A350s, and also the A320neo. QR was forced to take in one Al Maha plane and integrate it fully in the QR fleet.

You mean the A350 has a problem becuase one manufacturer of seats has an issue with its Buisness Class product.

Both are true. Airbus has a problem with some of it's suppliers, namely cabin furnishings and seats. Not to belittle these as they are complex and must be capable of certification they are expected to be at the easier end of production complexities.

We know that Boeing is facing similar issues. how long did one of the BA 789's sit after construction before cabin furnishing could be completed.

I think the both these issues (A350 and A320neo) will be forgotten about by most in a couple of years. Qatar got big discounts as the lead customer. They should know early frames are most likely to have probelms. No real terrible teens to be honest.

The fact that they have deferred some deliveries over the past few years certainly hints at the fact that the Devil might be right. Why would any airline do that in the middle of a "massive plane shortage"?

Both Finnair and Qatar seems to have some supplier issues with their aircraft delaying deliveries. As seen at TLS they both have aircraft sitting at TLS nearly finished, but it appears that they are not being worked on. This may suggest they are waiting for parts

Finnair, sure. MSN 28 was being worked in the C63 hangar after having performed its first flight on April 13.

MSN 21 on the other hand never moved away from the delivery area; cabin work is usually being done somewhere else.

For the next few months Cathay's A350s are flying regionally only. Traditionally J class performs better and is more lucrative long haul than regional where many of the J class occupants are either upgrades or miles redemptions so I wouldn't say it is a bit problem for these seats. Sure there is wastage but it isn't huge. The seats should be all certified soon.

Qatar Airways "not interested" in A350-2000, but still wants to be launch operator of -1000 in spite of current -900 delays - CEO Al Baker.

Let's see if they will be delivering the first A350-1000 after the "mean" things he had to say about Airbus in recent weeks.  Wink
