What on earth is taking QR this long to take delievery of the planes? I dont think its carpet issues frankly.

Their J seats are not even Zodiac seats, which are experienced delays.

Recently Sri Lankan made a press announcement indicating they have already managed to give one of the four frames to some airline (name undisclosed) -- which should normally be this white painted MNS52 and that they are negotiating with Turkish Airlines for wet-leasing the remaining three... (I'm not referring to their AerCap orders...)

Ooops, sorry my misinterpretation... What about MSN55 & MSN60? These are also AerCap's? If yes, what's the MSN for AerCap's fourth and last a359 on behalf of SriLankan?

If so, do you know he MSNs for those 4 frames that SriLankan was to get directly from Airbus? I'm asking these so guess estimate the possible wet-lease deliveries to TK, just in case there will be a handshake over that issue?

MSN 55 and MSN 60 should also be on lease from AerCap. The fourth UL A350 is MSN 171. Not sure whether this last one is AerCap's or not. No other MSN for SriLankan has been made public/announced.

I can't possibly confirm the validity but over here an aviation website indicates the temporary registrations of those three to-be-wet leased frames are: F-WZFA, WZFI & WZFK... Will this help, at all?

WZFA is MSN 052 for sure.

But if this info happens to be correct, then it means TK is negotiating with AerCap and not SriLankan. However in the below mentioned news indicates that discussions are between TK and UL!

Puzzled situation. :?: :?: :?:

I preliminary conclude that UL is negotiating with TK on behalf of AerCap, to get rid of their commitments to AerCap. The frames they plan to sub-lease (and wet-lease) to TK are MSN 052, 055 & 060. MSN 0171 is too far away, anyway. As for their own orders for the further 4 frames, to Airbus --- they will sort it out by time; probably exchanging these with 4 new a333/a339s.

Yes, I guess you have a point: AerCap is an aircraft leasing company and can provide basically only the airframe. It needs to be the SriLankan (UL) who will provide the cockpit & cabin crews and possibly some ground support staff in the case of a wet-lease contract. So UL will function as a sub-lessor in arms with AerCap.

MSN 37 (Singapore #4) going on a second CAF this morning. MSN 40 (Ethiopian #1) should delivery this afternoon and fly off to ADD tonight. Also on the look out of first engine run on MSN 41 (Singapore #5) which is back on line since APU was started for first time last week. ER should happen this week. Perhaps even RTO.

Hello, can no longer say this is my first thread on Anet as I just made a contribution to the SQ368 thread which may or may not have been the best place to start.

I am curious about what happens to the ex Sri Lankan planes. What is the process of storing a plane waiting to be sold? Do the engines get stripped immediately and re-used for another plane?

Having followed the B787 threads and seen the stories about the "terrible teens" and being parked for an extended time, do they immediately shield the windows? I am guessing that is that UV light issue.... fading and whatever else it does?

Just very curious and would love to know.

Many thanks in advance,

And MSN069 has been move to a brand new parking position right on the side of building M50, you clearly cannot miss it when you arrive on the "Louis Breguet" site !

I don't know if this spot will become an actual P18 station though...

Airbus is also creating a HUGE storage location at the A380 site with room for two dozen A350s or so. Will be used for both the A350 and A320neo.

To be clear: it's not a building, just a new storage location. It's located in front of the L07 paint hangar (see first photo in the post above), on the small taxiway nearby the A380 assembly hangars. Nearby parking lot P9.

More aircraft will be parked there in the coming months.
