It is also noteworthy in the article that Trent XWB engines are now manufactured in the plant in Dahlewitz, Germany (close to Berlin) as well. I tend to agree with the article that this is the first time that complete large civil jet engines are being manufactured in Germany.

As my first and only language in English English, may I gently suggest that in my language, the words manufacture and assembly are not interchangeable.

This is an issue which a head of state who speaks American English also seems have problems with. But it may be in that language the words manufacture and assembly are indeed interchangeable?

Small correction but MSN52 has already flown before and I think has already been delivered to Aercap (the owner of the aircraft). Not sure if it being prepped for Sichuan at TLS or if Aercap is going to fly it somewhere else for paint/seats.

Yes two of the three frames ntu by Sri Lankan (I think) were delivered by Airbus to Aercap last year. One remains in storage at TLS.

At present 5 deliveries per month is being achieved - but this should step up soon as there are currently some 14 350's on the flightline.

Also Fabrice Bregier said today at Airbus Media Day that he expects to deliver close to 100 A350s this year. I calculate 92 include all ones due to Qatar as well as the Chinese ones through Aercap so 100 is quite a promise! Great show of confidence from the leader in the program. Especially since we sit at 24 so far this year.

Other relevant comments by Bregier this morning:
> 2017 objective hasn't changed. Ramp-up of the A350 with rate 10 at the end of 2018
> The A350-1000 test program is expected to end at the end of summer
> Fastest achievement of maturity of A350 ever vs competition and own aircraft

Considering they predicted 100 deliveries this year and we are at 89 deliveries with 6 months to go, I expect 100 or even a few more.

We are not talking about historical delivery speed, but current. The one in January is cancelled out by December numbers. That May came out at 5 has to be seen with the first deliveries in June coming on the first and second. I would say Airbus is at 6 a month and moving to 7. My guess for June is 3 more giving 8.

Fair point - I suspect the running rate should move towards 7 given the pipeline that there is. We may even have months with more and hopefully not such a huge number in December.

A quick check of potential delivery dates , using the public unofficial spreadsheet on A350 blog shows 84 deliveries in 2017. Some way short of the latest Airbus forecast.

MSN 116 is the 27th delivered in 2017.

MSN 174 is the highest number forecast for 2017 delivery. 174 minus 116 equals 58.

There are 14 frames with MSNs less than 116 that should be delivered in 2017.

But there are 15 frames wit MSNs greater than 116 which probably won't be delivered ( including 7 not built and 7 for QR ).

So 27 plus 58 plus 14 minus 15 gives 84.

Where are the other 10 or so coming from ? QR deliveries from MSN114 upwards ? MSNs higher than 174 ?

Definition: Assembly, the act of combining components in manufacturing, or the resulting assemblage.

Usually assembly is a part of the whole manufacturing process. So if you manufacture a car it does not stop after you produced the parts and before you assemble the parts. In Dahlewitz they do more than assemble, just for example the test run, is part of manufacturing, but not part of assembling.

You should perhaps slow down your nit picking.

Al Baker says he now expects Qatar's first A350-1000 to be delivered in December this year. It had previously been due to arrive around now.

If you could show that there was nothing done in Dahlewitz but assembly, as I said already, doing a test run is not assembly. See I am even better than you in nit picking. And the second point is that to assemble is a part of manufacturing something. As is casting and machining and all the different steps, all part of manufacturing. You can call the whole process manufacturing, but only a part of it assembling.

As we go on, I never heard of an aircraft assembler, or car assembler, all of them are called manufacturer.
